By APD Writer Maverick JAKARTA, Sept. 13 (APD) – Indonesia intensifies its tourism promotion France by taking part in an international gastronomy festival and places outdoor advertising with tour buses serving in Paris as the promotion media. The nation would showcase and demonstrate the making of its national foods in the upcoming 3-day international food festival, the Le Village Internationale de la Gastronomie, slated for September 22 to 24 in Paris, making it its first appearance in the French annual event. Assistant Deputy for Europe, Middle East, Africa and the United States Markets at Indonesian Tourisms Ministry Nia Niscaya said that France has turned out to be one of Indonesia’s potential tourism markets as Indonesia has been picked among top five destinations by French travellers. “The eagerness to visit Indonesia among French people becomes increasing with the visa regulation that scraps the maximum visit of 30 days applied by Indonesian government,” Nia said here on Wednesday. She added that besides showcasing varieties of national foods, Indonesian exhibit would also display traditional and cultural attractions during the event. Indonesia would be among 50 countries sending their tourism promotion missions in the upcoming event which was expected to be catered by 50,000 visitors, higher than 30,000 ones last year. Apart from that, Indonesia has also conducted outdoor advertising efforts by emblazoning tour buses in Paris with images of Indonesian-themed destinations and national cultural attractions, continuing the one it did last year during the European Football Championship in France. The promotion by placing outdoor advertising in city buses was apparently successful as the nation saw around 20 percent tourist arrivals growth from France to over 250,900 ones last year. Indonesia Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said that the outdoor advertising set in public facility, like tour buses, was apparently effective to promote tourism as the advertising materials set in the bus would be captured by tourists who are taking photos in and around the bus while they were sightseeing in the city, and posted them in their social media accounts. “This is very effective. It could viral in social media and might get more attention from cyber community,” the minister said in the same occasion. The Paris tour bus with Indonesian tourism-themed images would serve from September 12 to October 9 this year. Indonesian has hired 16 Paris tour buses to carry out the task. Indonesia has set target to welcome 330,000 tourists from France this year, higher than 250,000 targeted last year. (ASIA PACIFIC DAILY)
